The Neighbourhood of Islington Village

43 Rathburn Rd is located in Islington Heights, a part of historic Islington Village. 
Islington Village is a highly desirable place to live in Toronto's west end. The "village's" gracious homes are mostly surrounded by green spaces, with both Mimico Creek and Islington Golf course winding through its core. A stunning enclave is Hampshire Heights, nestled next to the picturesque park of Echo Valley.
You'll find many lovely homes set on mature lots. Most date from the 30s and 40s, representing Toronto's best examples of classic housing styles, Georgian, Colonial, English Cottage and Tudor. You'll also find charming Cape Cod styles and excellent examples of modern. Most houses are set on large lots, many either back, or front, onto the Islington Golf Course.

The nearby Islington Golf Club, designed by a renowned golf course architect, is a private club geared towards families.
At Rosethorn Park, just north of the club, there's an excellent tennis club as well as one of the best baseball leagues in the city.

Residents love to stroll about the historic shopping district along Dundas Street at Islington Avenue, with its lovely shops, cafes, and restaurants. A must-see here is the outdoor collection of over 17 village murals that celebrate the community's history. Each year, on the first Saturday in June, there's a "Paint the Street!" festival to kick off the mural painting season.

Interested in afternoon tea? You can visit the 200 year old Montgomery Inn, faced with old river stone. It's one of my favourite places to treat a friend or purchase a special gift. Most local residents know the secret of the village's name, chosen by the Innkeeper's wife after her birthplace in England! Nature lovers will appreciate the outstanding collection of nut-bearing trees in Glen Echo Park.
